A lot of people think that the only place that they can go to get a work out is the gym. As their budgets get tighter, they wonder what they can do to stay in shape, but still cut their costs.

There are many ways to stay in shape on a budget. Many people never use the gym, they just go on a long walk or jog every morning. For strength training, they go to the local elementary school play ground and do pull ups and use the monkey bars. Other people will use soup cans, gallons of milk and other items from around the house.

You can use a broom held in both sides horizontally while turning side to side to work out your abs. If you lay flat on you back on the floor, and then bend your knees up, then lift you head to a partial sit up position and hold it, you can get a very intense ab workout.

Just enjoying the outdoors by going hiking, biking and swimming are also great ways to get an incredible workout. There is no need for special equipment or a gym membership, you can look great and stay in shape simply by keeping yourself moving.

There are some great online tools that can help you count calories as well as count the minutes that you exercise. They are free and easy to use. You can stay in shape without spending one single penny. What it takes is time and commitment.
